Mt. Elbert
Mt. Elbert is the highest mountain in Colorado at 14,433ft. Max and I just had to climb it. In order to do so, we packed up the car and headed out of Denver at 9:30 at night. We reached the base near the trailhead around 11:30PM and set up 'camp.' (Inflated the airmattress in the back of the car... I love my car. :) We woke up early to the sound of other hikers driving by and made the way up the mountain ourselves. We had a pleasant hike conquering both false summits before finally reaching the top. On the way down I thought it started to sprinkle, but no, it was snow. In August. We got back to the trailhead, in the car, and barely back to the main road when the rain started pouring. Before long it was a crazy hail storm. What a crazy place I live in.
