Zion National Park
Matt wanted to celebrate his birthday by taking a road trip, so we packed up my car, which has now been dubbed "The Royal Hoyal Wilderness Lodge" and headed west. We drove until dusk when we arrived at Zion National Park.
We had envisioned taking a more adventurous hike there, but being unprepared and after getting frustrated with the maps and info the park provided, we took the tourist trip instead. We started by hiking as deep into the Narrows as we could without our feet going totally numb in the freezing water. Then we hit all of the scenery stops along the route: Weeping Rock, the Grotto, took the Emerald Pools Trail, Court of the Patriarchs, the Sentinel, Alter of Sacrifice, and the West Temple.
The drive out was almost the best part, however, as we saw wild turkeys, the huge natural arch, and then two bighorn sheep practically posing for me. The entire drive to our next stop was beautiful. We pulled off the highway into some national forest to camp and were delighted to find a quite scenic campsite.
